Halloween Mid-Term Break
The school will close from 26 October to 30 October inclusive for the mid-term break. It will reopen at 08.30am on Monday 02 November.

Jersey Day
We are holding a Jersey Day, on Friday 23 October in aid of the Niall Mellon Township Trust.
**Please note this is NOT a Non-Uniform Day**

  • Children can wear their favourite Team Jersey with school trousers/skirt or school tracksuit bottoms.
  • Children who do not have a team jersey may wear any T-Shirt with school trousers/skirt or school tracksuit bottoms.
  • We would be delighted if children could make a small donation (max €2).

Confirmation Enrolment
The Confirmation Enrolment Ceremony for 6th class children takes place on Thursday 22 October at 7pm in St Mochta's Parish Church.

Lost Property
Again we find ourselves with a huge amount of lost property items (coats, jumpers, tracksuit tops, etc., etc.) in our Lost Property press. We would ask that if your child is missing any item, please take a moment at drop off or pick up time next week to take a look. Any items not claimed by Friday 23 October will be donated to the St Vincent de Paul shop in Blanchardstown. New and Second-hand Uniforms are also available in the shop.

Photographs
Can all children who are having their photos taken wear their full school uniform on Monday & Tuesday next week. NO TRACKSUITS PLEASE. Class photos will be taken on Wednesday, so all children to wear school uniform (NO TRACKSUITS). Can you also ensure your child brings their own comb/brush.

Baptismal Certificates for First Communion & Confirmation Classes
Copies of Baptismal Certificates should still be on file in the school since Registration. If we do not have your child's Baptismal Certificate, his/her class teacher will make contact with you through your child's Homework Journal.

Donore Harriers
"On Wednesday, we went to Donore Harriers in Chapelizod. Four schools took park. They were Scoil Thomas, Scoil Oilibhéir, St Francis Xavier's and, of course, St Patrick's. We won ten gold, four silver and two bronze medals. The activities were shot putt, long jump, relay, sprints and hurdles. We won the shield with an amazing 98 points. Everybody won a medal and some people won two!" Stephen - 6th Class

GAA
"On 13 October, St Patrick's N.S. played St Mochta's and, led by their captain and goalkeeper Mohamed were narrowly beaten. Our second team were unlucky to go down 4-2 to 3-2 against Tyrellstown." Darian & Donagh - 6th Class
The finals of the competition take place next Tuesday in Páirc Tír na nÓg (beside Spar) at 3pm. All support welcome.

Running Like The Wind
"On Tuesday the 13th of October children from 3rd to 6th Class travelled to Porterstown Fields to compete against other local schools in long distance running. Everybody from St. Patrick's tried their best and had a fantastic time. We're looking forward to the next meeting on November the 17th." Carl and Ruadhán - 6th Class

Christmas Fair
Our Christmas Fair will be on Sunday 29th November, 2009. There are many great memories of our Christmas Fair from last year. Again, this year we need people who can be part of the organising committee or the help on the day - e-mail stpatricksnspa@gmail.com. Further details will issue next week - please put a note of the date in your diary.

Junior Infants September 2010
Application Forms are now available from the office.
Registration will take place on 23, 24 and 25 November 2009.

Athletics for Children
Some parents have expressed an interest in athletics for their children outside school. Please note that Metropolitan Harriers and St Brigid's Athletic Club have a Juvenile section and is primarily based in the growing Blanchardstown Dublin 15 area. Training sessions take place in Porterstown Park and Coolmine with additional training on Tuesdays in Castleknock College during winter. There is also the Donore Harriers Athletics Club based in Chapelizod. For more info, please check out www.msbac.com or www.donoreharriers.ie.

German for Kinder
New to St. Patrick's N.S., this German course for beginners only started last Monday. There are still places available, and it is now open to Junior Infants' and Senior Infants' as well as 1st to 6th year students. Join in the fun and games while learning basic vocabulary and phrases. We are looking forward to seeing you Mondays, at 2.10-2.40pm in the "Back Room". Fee for 1st semester (19th Oct.'09 till 8th Feb '10) is 90 Euro. Spanish for Children
La Jolie Ronde Spanish Classes, at St Patrick's NS. Small, age-specific classes, taught by a fully qualified, experienced and motivated language teacher. High quality teaching material - tried, tested and fun, with student course book and CD so that learning can continue between classes. Additional classes on offer for 3+ year olds and for Junior & Senior Infants on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays @ 1.10PM and 1.40PM and for 1st - 6th class from 3.15 on Tuesdays. La Jolie Ronde French Classes
Due to demand, additional French classes have been set up in here in St. Patrick's / Diswellstown Community Centre on Monday afternoons at 4pm and 4.35 pm. Classes start on Monday 9th November for a short term of 6 weeks initially (48 Euro). Enrolment packs are being sent out so contact me to request one as I have four places only left in each class.
