Day of Action - 24 November 2009
As you are aware, there is a day of action planned by Public Sector Unions on Tuesday 24 November. Arising from this, the school will not be in a position to accept pupils on that day for Health and Safety reasons.
Parking
Please note that parking is not permitted in the Bus Stop area during drop off and collection times. This area must be kept clear for buses only.
We have had a number of concerned parents approach the school re cars parking on the roundabout at the junction of Diswellstown Road and Carpenterstown Road. We are therefore asking all parents not to park on the roundabout.
Wet Days
There is no provision for indoor supervision of children on wet mornings prior to 8.30 am. We would ask that you time your arrival between 8.30 and 8.40 in the event of inclement weather.
Procedure for Entry to School Building
Folens Christmas Annuals
Folens Christmas Annuals, priced at €5 each, are now available through the school. Order forms are beside the Parent Information Notice Board. Orders with payment will be taken in the main office up to Thursday 26 November. To ensure prompt delivery, orders will be placed with Folens on Friday 27 November. As a result, no late orders can be accepted.
Collections during Break time
If you need to collect your child during the school day, please do not do so during playtime (10.20-10.30am and 12.00-12.30pm) as children must be signed out through the main office before leaving the premises. Your cooperation in this matter would be very much appreciated.
Christmas Fair - URGENT-URGENT-URGENT
The holding of the Penalty Shoot-out is in doubt this year, as we only have one goalie - we need at least four, in order to set-up a rota and give the goalies a break. So all you Dads who always fancied yourselves as good as ‘Shay Given', volunteer to have a go! Please contact Marie on 087 9935551.
Christmas Fair
The school photographer, Richard Gavin, will be in attendance at the Fair this year to take Family Photographs. Each family will have a 15 minute sitting - the sessions start at 1pm. There is a €10 deposit required to book your time - this money goes to the school's Christmas Fair fundraising. However, when/if you place your order with the Photographer, the €10 will be deducted from the amount due. There will be different options, starting with an 8"x 6" in a presentation folder for €20; a 10"x 12" or 12"x 10" photograph in Silver or Black Frame @ €95, or 3 photographs in 1 Silver or Black Frame @ €125. As places are limited (16 Families - maximum 8 family members), we need to take bookings. Please contact Marie on 087 9935551 - it will be on a first come basis and the booking fee will be payable in advance to confirm your time.
Christmas Fair - URGENT-URGENT-URGENT
The Bottle Stall is at risk of not existing this year, as there is a real lack of bottles. So please help - bring along a bottle - spirits, wine or minerals, to any of the drops - Monday, Wednesday, Thursday or Friday morning or lunchtimes; or Monday, Wednesday or Thursday evenings from 7.30pm-8.30pm.
EU Tasty Bunch
St Patrick's was one of only seven schools in Dublin lucky enough recently to get a visit from the EU's Tasty Bunch - a healthy eating/keep fit campaign. The 6th Class children who attended the presentation enjoyed it immensely. As a follow-up, why not check out the following web-site and encourage your child/children to enter the Treasure Hunt Competition? Schoolchildren aged 8 to 15 can enter. They can win plenty of sporty and healthy eating prizes while learning about healthy food and how to be fit! The prizes are fantastic! Good luck! See ec.europa.eu
National Volleyball team to train at St Patrick's
The Irish National Senior Men's Volleyball Team will be training in the school tomorrow Saturday 21 November in preparation for a small nations championship tournament to be held in Andorra in 2010. Training will take place in the Sports Hall from 4.30pm - 5.30pm. The session is open to children in 3rd - 6th who wish to attend. However, all children should be accompanied and supervised by a parent/guardian. The children who attend may be invited to do some ball handling activities with the players and to play small matches.
Extra Curricular Activities
Castleknock Hurling & Football Club
Castleknock Hurling & Football Club Nursery will train at Somerton this Saturday and not at CCC.

The best of luck to the girls' football team who are due to play their first match in Somerton on Thursday 26 November.
