Ireland's biggest school's photography competition is back!!
The highly successful Bord Gáis Energy "Capture the Power" photography competition is launched for its second year. The aim of the competition is to support learning in schools through the use of photography and enhance pupil's understanding of energy and how it relates to their everyday lives and interests. Bord Gáis Energy is inviting students of all ages (primary 5-9 yr olds and 10-13 yr olds) to capture the energy in the world around them on a camera. Just look around and capture the ENERGY in your world on a camera.
Boys and Girls, you can find ENERGY everywhere & anywhere. For example a crashing wave, a gusting wind or a towering tree. At a local sports event, it could be a crunching tackle or fan going wild. It's your choice and you're only limited by your imagination. Your challenge is easy, just capture what you feel shows ENERGY and write a few words about it before sending it into Bord Gáis Energy. Competition closes on 26th March. There are lots of fantastic prizes to be won and entering couldn't be easier. So grab your camera, and start snapping! Mums and Dads, we need your encouragement. Competition details (and examples) are available at www.capturethepower.ie
Junior Inventor 2010
We encourage all children to participate in this competition run by the Patents Office. The competition is aimed at Primary School children and its aim is to encourage children to be innnovative and sow the seeds of interest in science and engineering at an early age. The competition is divided into two categories(1st-3rd and 4th-6th). Competition closes on 26th March. All details/rules (and examples) are available on www.patentsoffice.ie (click on junior inventor link).
Boys and Girls, you are Ireland's future inventors. The Patents Office would like to hear about any new ideas you might have for inventions. All you have to do is enter any idea you might have for an invention of a new product or an improvement to an existing product or any idea that solves a problem or makes life better and easier. Once you have your idea, all you have to do is draw/illustrate the invention and write a little about it to describe what it is and how it will work to make our lives better. Get those light bulbs in your heads working!!!
