Catholic Schools Week
To celebrate Catholic Schools Week 2011 (30 Jan to 5 Feb) there will be a special celebration this coming Sunday for St. Mochta’s School at 10.30am mass and St. Patrick’s School at 12pm mass in St Mochta’s Church. Everyone welcome to attend.
Cycling Safety Course (5th Class Children)
A Cycling Safety Course will take place for all 5th Class children commencing 01 March for 6 weeks. The course will take place on school grounds. A letter has been given to each child with full information. Permission Slips with payments should be returned directly to the class teacher.
Sick Children at School
As per our School Booklet: “Please do not send sick children to school for the following reasons:
It is not necessary to telephone the school if your child is sick. Absence due to a minor illness should be advised in writing to the class teacher on your child’s return, either by a note or in his/her homework journal.
The school should be informed however when there is an outbreak of certain contagious infections. Your G.P. will be able to advise you in this regard.

Staff Car Park
For safety reasons, only staff cars are allowed into the car park during school hours. The safest available parking at drop off and collection times is in The Carpenter/Spar car park. The School Wardens (Lollypop Ladies) will help you/your children to cross the road safely. If you are returning to the school to drop off forgotten lunches, schoolbags, etc., we would ask that you park in the bus stop area and enter via the Pedestrian Gate. (Please close gates after you leave). Thank you for your cooperation.
Luttrellstown Community College
The assessment for incoming First Years (September 2011) will take place on Saturday 05 February 2010 at 9.15am in Luttrellstown Community College.
An Information Meeting for incoming First Years and their parents will take place here in LCC on Thursday 10 February from 7.30pm-9.00pm.
Reading Buddies
Our annual Reading Buddies Programme for 1st-4th classes will commence shortly. Older children will be paired with younger children for short bi-weekly reading sessions, for the remainder of this term. This is an enjoyable and valuable programme which not only helps to develop reader confidence but also provides an opportunity for pupils to get to know children at other class levels.
Intercultural Project
The school is completing a project on Intercultural Awareness. The project is commencing with a focus on Nigeria during the month of February. Letters have been sent home to all Nigerian parents. If you have not yet received a copy, please let us know.
IRFU Charitable Trust Gala Concert
The school choirs are taking part in the IRFU Charitable Trust Gala Concert on Tuesday 01 February at 8.00pm in the National Concert Hall. Tickets are €35 and available at www.nch.ie or Tel 01 4170000.

At the Anti-Bullying Talk, Seline mentioned a book which parents may find helpful - Understanding School Bullying, A Guide for Parents and Teachers, by Mona O'Moore.
