Week Ending 11th November 2011Parent/Teacher Meeting
Family Sheets have been distributed this week for next week’s Parent/Teacher Meetings. Meetings commence at 2.10pm on Wednesday 16 and Thursday 17 November. Please knock on the class door at your assigned time to let the class teacher know you have arrived.
Enrolment Ceremony for First Holy Communion
Our Enrolment Ceremony will be taking place next Tuesday 15th November at 7pm in the Church for the children of St. Mochta’s N.S. and on Thursday 17th November at 7pm for the children of Scoil Choilm and St. Patrick’s N.S. As our church is small, we can accommodate immediate family only. This is the start of our Preparation Programme for your child to receive the Sacrament of Penance and First Holy Communion.
Enrolment Ceremony for Confirmation
Our Enrolment Ceremony will be taking place next Tuesday 22nd November at 7pm in the Church for the children of St. Mochta’s N.S. and on Thursday 24th November at 7pm for the children of St. Patrick’s N.S. The Candidates will be enrolled on our Parish programme for preparation and parents should attend this ceremony with their children. This is the start of our Preparation Programme for your child to receive the Sacrament of Penance and First Holy Communion.
Celtic Travelling Book Fair
The Book Fair will be in the school from Tuesday 29 November to Monday 05 December. Feel free to call in at dropping off (08.30am-9.00am) and collection times (1.00pm 2.30pm) to browse through the selection available. This is a great opportunity to get started on your Christmas shopping! The more books you buy, the more books the school will receive to help stock the school library. A limited number of leaflets are available from beside the Parent Information Notice Board. From previous year’s experience, may we please ask that you Enter only via the Main Entrance and Exit only via the Blanchardstown Door? This will ensure a smooth flow of people through the Book Fair area which is quite tight.
World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims
An inter-denominational ceremony for World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims will be held in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Laurel Lodge, Castleknock, Dublin 15 commencing at 2pm on Sunday the 20th November. All are invited to attend. Those who have lost loved ones are invited to bring along a photograph to place on the altar. This service is being organised by PARC road safety group, supported by the Road Safety Authority and An Garda Siochana. Our website is www.parcroadsafety.org for further information.
Dublin 15 Cross Country League
A reminder that the next races will take place in Porterstown Park on Tuesday 15th November from 11.30-1.00. All spectators welcome.

Happy Parent, Happy Child Free Parenting Talk
St Patrick’s Parent’s Association Committee is hosting the above talk on Wednesday 16th November in the school reception area. The aim of the “Happy Parent, Happy Child” talk is to provide practical parenting tips for a calmer & happier home!
The talk is facilitated by Sheila O’Malley,a qualified Parent Mentor & currently undertaking a Level 8 in Relationship Mentoring. Sheila has Diplomas in Parent Mentoring & Communications accredited by the National University of Ireland. The talk is aimed at parents with children aged 4 years to 12 years of age so all parents are welcome. Time: 8pm to 9pm with additional time available for questions.
Christmas Fair Raffle
This year we have some fantastic prizes for the Christmas Fair Raffle. 1st Prize is a Samsung Netbook; 2nd Prize Nintendo 3DS; 3rd Prize Westpoint 1 Year Membership; 4th Prize Panasonic HD Memory Card Camcorder; 5th Prize 150 Voucher Branagan Meats; 6th Prize Amazon Kindle 4; 7th Prize Harmon Kardon JBL iPod Docking Station. Every child in the school will have received a book of tickets this week. Parents/guardians are under no obligation to buy these tickets. Please return counterfoils and money or unsold tickets to the class teacher by Thursday 17th November. Tickets are 2 each or 10 for a book of 6 tickets. Good luck in the draw and Thank You!
Extra Curricular Activities
Tennis Coaching 2nd-6th
There will be one more Tennis Session after the Mid-Term Break. A new course of tennis will begin on Tuesday 15th November. Sessions take place every Tuesday from 3.05pm 4.00pm. All equipment is provided. Priority will be given to older children. Cost: 25 euros for 8 sessions and this should be paid to the school. Those interested should sign up for it at Reception.
Volleyball/Spikeball 2nd-6th
There will be two more volleyball sessions after the Mid-Term Break. A new course of volleyball/spikeball will begin on Wednesday 23rd November. As usual, sessions take place from 3.05pm 4.00pm. Numbers limited and priority given to older children. Those interested should place their names on the Sign-on Sheet at Reception. The cost of the 8-week course is 25 euros and this should be paid to the school. Further details will be made available in school to those children who register at Reception.
Badminton 2nd 6th
A new course of badminton with Jackie Killoch (Badminton Ireland) will begin on Friday 18th Nov. The course of 8 lessons for children from 2nd 6th class costs 25 euros and should be paid directly to the school. As usual, classes run each Friday from 2.10 3.05 and 3.05-4.00. Those interested should place their names on the Sign-on Sheet at Reception. Further details will be made available in school to those children who register at Reception.
French for Children @ St. Patrick’s
Early present from French for Children to St. Patrick’s pupils and younger siblings too! Free trial of my fun & educational French classes! Suitable for all age groups from 3 yrs up to 13 yrs. Please contact French native Sabine asap to arrange free lesson before Christmas! At this time of year, I can provide grinds for older children preparing them for Christmas exams in secondary.
