First Communion Preparation Meeting for Parents
The second meeting for parents of children preparing for 1st Holy Communion takes place on Thursday, 19 January, 2011 at 8pm in the Parish Centre.  This meeting will look at the importance of the Word of God.  At least one parent of each child must attend this meeting.

Reading Buddies
Our annual Reading Buddies Programme for first to fourth classes will be commencing shortly.  This will involve the children in third and fourth classes doing paired reading with the children in first and second classes for fifteen minutes twice a week, over a 10 week period.  This is a simple and effective reading technique, which usually results in improvements in reading confidence for most pupils. We found in previous years that there was a positive response from the children, who enjoyed making new friends, as well as contributing to a positive attitude towards reading.

Infant Children
Infant children (Junior & Senior Infants) should not be left unsupervised in the yard in the morning.  Parents/Guardians should remain with their child/children until they are passed over to the care of their teacher at 8.30am.

Phones for Boards
The Jack & Jill Foundation in association with Promethean are inviting schools to collect and swap unwanted mobile phones for a new Promethean interactive whiteboard.  We have registered for this campaign. The deal is for every 300 old mobile phones collected, participating schools earn a 78inch Promethean ActivBoard.  See www.phonesforboards.com for further information.  A collection box is in place inside the main door of the school.  Perhaps you could ask family and friends who may have received a new phone for Christmas to help us to acquire a new Interactive Whiteboard for the school by donating their old phone.

Dropping in lunches, bags, homework etc.
It would be greatly appreciated that if you are dropping in any of your child’s forgotten belongings e.g. lunches, bags, homework, etc., that they are all clearly marked with your child’s name and the name of the class teacher.

Labelling/Lost Property
Please ensure all your children’s property (e.g. jumpers, tracksuit tops, coats, hats, scarves, lunchboxes, drinks bottles, etc) is clearly labelled with your child’s name.
