Icy Weather
During icy weather, cyclists should use the “New” Pedestrian Entrance as all gritting will be concentrated on this area and the coloured pathway around the building. Please dismount and walk through school grounds.
Pyrite
A team of consultants has been appointed by the Dept. of Education and Science to plan for the remedial works required to remove pyrite from the school building. We will keep you informed regarding developments.
Punctuality
It is imperative that all children are punctual in the morning. The 20 minutes between 08.30am and 08.50am is a very important time in the school day. This is when the younger children have activity time or structured play. It is a time when teachers get to correct homework or hear children’s reading.
New Access Arrangements
To minimise heat loss and for the safety and security of all the children, we are implementing a new system of access for children who arrive late for line-up in the morning.
Absences due to illness
Whilst there is no need to telephone the school if your child is sick, we would greatly appreciate if you would contact us if your child contracts a contagious illness e.g. measles, mumps, rubella, etc. There are children in the school who are at increased risk of contracting these illnesses. Parents must acknowledge their child’s absence from school due to minor illnesses on their return, in writing, in the child’s School Journal or via a note to their child’s class teacher.

Dropping in lunches, bags, homework etc.
As there are now more than 760 children in the school, it is essential that, if you are dropping in any of your child’s forgotten belongings e.g. lunches, bags, homework, football gear, etc., that they are clearly marked with your child’s name and their class teacher.

Respect Cup 7-A-Side Tournament
“Girls and boys from 4th Class went to the Corduff Sports Centre to play a Respect Cup 7-A-Sode Tournament on Monday. The boys sadly didn’t get through to the semi-final but played really well. The girls made it through to the final but sadly lost 1-0. Mr Heneghan and Esther’s Mam came to help out. All the boys and girls were very proud to represent the school”. Ciara and Michael 4th Class
