Newsletter by Email
It is our plan, going forward, to distribute our weekly Newsletter by email. As a test run, we will be emailing this newsletter to every parent for whom we have an email address.  If you do not receive the email by Friday, please email info@stpatricksns.ie with “Newsletter” in the subject heading, together with the names of your child/children and we will update our database with your email details.

Astronomy Talks
Kevin Sweeney from Astronomy Talks will be meeting with the children from 3rd – 6th Class on Wednesday 23 January.  In the individual class groupings, he will give a presentation and talk with the children about Planet Earth and Beyond, appropriate to the curriculum level.  To cover the cost, children are asked to bring in €1 on the day to their class teacher.

Mobile Phones – Extract for School Information Booklet
“Should parents feel the need for their child to bring a mobile phone to school, it must be kept in the schoolbags or as directed by the class teacher.  Mobile phones must be switched off during the school day, on school premises, grounds and during off-site school
activities
.  In Emergency situations, children may ask their class teacher or at Reception for permission to use the phone. Pupils who ignore this policy will no longer be allowed to have a mobile phone in school. The school cannot accept any responsibility for theft, loss, damage or health effects (potential or actual) resulting from mobile phone use.”

Access Arrangements
To minimise heat loss and for the safety and security of all the children, we are implementing a new system of access for children who arrive late for line-up in the morning.

  • 2nd – 6th Class children will enter via the Diswellstown (Tigers) Door only.
  • Junior Infants – 1st Class children will enter via the Main School Entrance only.

Icy Weather
During icy weather, cyclists should use the “New” Pedestrian Entrance as all gritting will be concentrated on this area and the coloured pathway around the building.  Please dismount and walk through school grounds.

Snow Entry & Exit Arrangements
Children are asked not to arrive into school until after 8.30am. Entry will be via the “New” Pedestrian Entrance only. Please use the fences on each side of the walkway as support.

Spare Tracksuits/Underwear
In the event of a fall or other accident during the school day, the school has a limited stock of spare tracksuit bottoms and underwear. If your child has need for any of these items, we would greatly appreciate if they could be washed and returned to the class teacher or office as soon as possible.

Dropping in lunches, bags, homework etc.
It would be greatly appreciated that if you are dropping in any of your child’s forgotten belongings e.g. lunches, bags, homework, etc., that they are all clearly marked with your child’s name and the name of the class teacher.

Labelling/Lost Property
Please ensure all your children’s property (e.g. jumpers, tracksuit tops, coats, hats, scarves, lunchboxes, drinks bottles, etc) is clearly labelled with your child’s name.

Staff Car Park
Please note that parents are asked not to park in the Staff Car Park between 8.00am and 2.30pm, the only exception being parents collecting disabled or injured children.  We would be grateful if you could also inform anyone who may be collecting your child/children on your behalf of this procedure. If you are returning to the school to drop off forgotten lunches, schoolbags, etc. during the school day, we would ask that you park in the bus stop area and enter via the Pedestrian Gate. (Please close gates after you leave).  We appreciate your cooperation in this matter.
