Seachtain na Gaeilge
Tá Seachtain na Gaeilge buailte linn aris.  We are having lots of fun activities to promote Gaeilge in the school this week.  Most of all, we hope everyone will have plenty of “sport agus spraoi” as Gaeilge.  Perhaps you could use a “cúpla focal” at home too!

We will be having a Mórshiúl for the children during the school day this Friday 15 March.  Children may wear a green top or tshirt with their school tracksuit bottoms if they wish.

Head Lice
We have had a number of recurring cases of head lice in the school recently.  If your child is given a letter to say there is a case in the classroom, we would appeal to you to follow the guidelines on the letter to ensure all lice and eggs are removed/destroyed.
Basketball Blitz
“On Tuesday the 5th of March, St Patrick’s Basketball team went to St Benedict’s N.S. Ongar to compete in a 4th – 6th Class Basketball Blitz.  The team tried their best and came 3rd.  Well done to everyone who competed”. Aran & Alec – 4th Class

“Knock-out Trials” for School Santry Team – Cumann na mBunscol Athletics Championships
Trials are still on-going for this year’s school team. We now have a shortlist for each age category. The children who have made it onto the shortlists will be informed over the next week. Final selection will be made from these lists. It should be noted that selection is based on a number of points – athletic ability, team spirit, sportsmanship, general behaviour etc. The remainder of the “Knock-out Trials” will be held after school. Those who make it onto the shortlists must attend if they want to be considered for the team. Those selected for the team must be available for the championships held at Morton Stadium, Santry, the last week in May and/or first week in June. The following schedule has been put in place, but further dates will be advised in the coming Newsletters:
Thursday 11th April U13½ Boys and Girls from 2.15 – 3.00 (outside, in Basketball Area, weather permitting)
Friday 12th April U12 Boys and Girls from 2.15 – 3.00 (outdoors as above)
Thursday 18th April U11 Boys and Girls from 2.15 – 3.00 (outdoors as above)
Friday 19th April U10 Boys and Girls from 2.15 – 3.00 (outdoors as above)
Children should line up in yard outside Diswellstown Door at 2.15 where they will be met by teacher. Please note that training may be cancelled if the ground is too wet. Also note that other dates/times may need to be added in order to prepare for the event. Children will be informed at school of any changes.

Birthday parties
If your child is having a birthday party and inviting children from the class, the distribution of invitations must be done outside school, as children who are not on the guest list can feel upset and isolated. Please do not ask school personnel for phone numbers or addresses of children in the class. Schools, like all institutions, must adhere to the terms of the Data Protection Act.

Staff Car Park
Please note that parents are asked not to park in the Staff Car Park between 8.00am and 2.30pm, the only exception being parents collecting disabled or injured children.  We would be grateful if you could also inform anyone who may be collecting your child/children on your behalf of this procedure.
If you are returning to the school to drop off forgotten lunches, schoolbags, etc. during the school day, we would ask that you park in the bus stop area and enter via the Pedestrian Gate. (Please close gates after you leave).  We appreciate your cooperation in this matter.

Access Arrangements
To minimise heat loss and for the safety and security of all the pupils, children who arrive late for line-up in the morning should access the school as follows:

  • 2nd – 6th Class children will enter via the Diswellstown (Tigers) Door only.
  • Junior Infants – 1st Class children will enter via the Main School Entrance only.
