The school closes on Friday 20 December, at 11.30am for the Christmas Holidays. The school will reopen on Tuesday 07 January 2014 at 08.30am.
St Vincent de Paul Christmas Appeal
Our Christmas Appeal is once again in aid of SVP. There are three different options:
- Hampers (non-perishable food items). Items for hampers can be placed in the boxes beside the crib in the school foyer by 8.30am tomorrow morning.
- Donate an unwrapped toy/gift for a child (new items only) by 8.30am tomorrow morning. Boy/Girl Labels are available from the office.
- Financial Donations. If you would like to donate money to the SVP through the school, please drop it in to the office in an envelope marked “SVP”. All monies donated will be lodged directly into the SVP Account before Christmas or you may also donate directly to SVP through their website, www.svp.ie.
Audio Books
The school is starting to build up a selection of Audio Books. We currently have some of the Harry Potter collection of stories. If your child (4th/5th/6th class) would be interested in this, we ask that you, the parent/guardian, come to the school and sign them out, much the same as you would borrow a library book/cd/dvd, etc.
URGENT Re Choir at Docklands
There has been a change for the Docklands performance from 3pm-4pm on Saturday 14th December. The “Big Red Barn” has now changed to a “Candy-striped Marquee” instead. The venue and location is the same, just the structure has changed! All children have been informed.
Parents Association News
School Calendars
A second delivery of calendars is expected this week or early next week. As soon as they arrive, they will be delivered to the children who expected them this week. As soon as they arrive, they will also be delivered to those have outstanding orders or placed orders at the Christmas Fair.

Morning Access Arrangements
To minimise heat loss and for the safety and security of all the children, children who arrive late for line-up in the morning should enter the building as follows:
- 2nd – 6th Class children will enter via the Diswellstown (Tigers) Door only.
- Junior Infants – 1st Class children will enter via the Main School Entrance only.
Extra Curricular Activities
La Jolie Ronde French classes @ St Patricks
Term 2 starting January 2014 for after-school classes from 1.10 onwards. One place left in the additional pre-school class (3 to 5 yrs): parents & siblings welcome to learn together through stories, songs, rhymes, drama and craft. Spanish for Children
Term 2 starting 6th January. Fun and stress-free, after-school classes (using La Jolie Ronde materials) in St Patrick’s NS for 3 - 14 year olds, the best age for your children to learn - especially to learn to confidently speak a modern language. Six age-specific levels from which to choose. Small classes, with lots of individual attention, all taught by a qualified Secondary School Spanish teacher. Art & Craft Workshops
The new ten week term of Art & Craft will began on Monday 02 December at 2.10pm to 3.45pm, and will run until March 2014. A wide range of skills will be taught to foster creativity and self-development. Some places are available. Please contact Blathnaid on 087 4123247 for full details.
Castleknock Hurling & Football Club Nursery Christmas Party
The CHFC Nursery Christmas Party takes place on Saturday 14 December from 2pm to 4pm in Castleknock Community College. €5 per child, Children’s entertainment, refreshments and a Christmas gift.
