Maths Eyes Competition
Many thanks to all who took part in our Maths Eyes competition. We had almost 300 entries!

The winners of the Cinema vouchers for taking part were: Zach Buttner, Caoimhe Delaney, Jessica Ogbomor, Liam Ward, Mehek Memon.

The following children were rewarded for making a special effort: Emma Diamond, Luke Pettit, Nathan Downey, Megan Littleton, Ciarán Murtagh and Lynn Kelly.

Please continue to wear your ‘Maths Eyes’.

First Holy Communion
As part of the preparation for First Holy Communion, the Second Class children will be going to the church during the school day on Monday 03 November to practise. We would ask, therefore, that children have an all-weather jacket with them.

If you do not wish your child to attend, please inform the class teacher in writing as soon as possible.

Celtic Travelling Book Fair
The Book Fair will be in the school from Wednesday 05 November to Monday 10 November. Feel free to call in at dropping off (08.30am-9.00am) and collection times (1.00pm – 2.30pm) to browse through the selection available. This is a great opportunity to get started on your Christmas shopping! The more books you buy, the more books the school will receive to help restock the school library. A limited number of leaflets are available from beside the Parent Information Notice Board. From previous years’ experience, may we please ask that you Enter only via the Main Entrance and Exit only via the Blanchardstown Door? This will ensure a smooth flow of people through the Book Fair area which is quite tight.

Fighting Words
At 9.15 on Tuesday 14 October 2014, our class (Mr Heneghan’s 5th Class) set off for Fighting Words. The bus journey was an eventful trip including singing songs. The Fight Words building was very colourful with paintings all over the windows. The walls were bookshelves. We each got a nametag and our photo taken. After that, we had to yell at a magic door so it would open. Then we went into a big room. We all together wrote the start of our story then we each wrote our own individual ending. We had a great time at Fighting Words. Many thanks to Anna & Aoife, Mr Heneghan and Fighting Words. Cliona & Roisin – 5th Class.

Urgent Appeal for Volunteers for St Mochta’s Youth Group (SMYG).
St Mochta’s Youth Group runs every second Friday evening from 7.30 to 9.30 in the Parish Centre. It is Foroige affiliated with 25 young members aged between 12 and 15. At the moment, we currently have two youth leaders, Colette Hoban and Niamh Greene. However, with growing numbers, we desperately need more people to become involved with the running of the club otherwise we will have no choice but to cease running SMYG. The Group is an excellent social outlet for these young people and a great opportunity for them to develop new friendships, learn new skills and most of all have fantastic fun.

If you would like to be involved, find out more information about it, please contact Colette Hoban at 0879380380 or email SMYG@stmochtasparish.ie

Parents Association News

School Photographs
Unfortunately a number of pupils/families have not yet received their photo proofs. Can we please ask that you email info@stpatricksns.ie if your child/children had their photograph taken but did not receive any proofs. This will allow us to contact the photographer with an exact list of missing proofs. Please ensure you put your child’s name AND their teacher’s name in your email.

Reminders

New Payment System (Elavon)
We have a New Payment System here in St Patrick's and we therefore no longer wish to accept cash. This new method allows parents to pay through a very secure system, using your ATM/Debit/Credit card. It will cancel out the need for writing cheques and sourcing exact amounts for payments, etc. It will also automatically enter the record of the payment against your child's entry on our school database. An email is sent to parents with all outstanding payments automatically listed. We are confident that the system will benefit both parents and the school in monitoring and recording payments.

Extras Fee 2014/2015

(e.g. Book Rental/Photocopying/Pupil Insurance/IT/Stationery/Visual Art)

Thank you to everyone who paid their Extras Fee for the 2014/2015 School Year. Please note that if you have paid online through our website, you must send a copy of the receipt to your eldest child’s teacher to ensure that you are marked as paid on our database. If you have not yet paid the fee (€65 per child), an email was sent to you with the link to our new method of payment. This is our preferred method of Payment for this and all future school payments. All payments for the 2013/2014 year must be paid before payment for 2014/2015 academic school year.

Please note: Parents of the new Junior Infant children paid their fee on Acceptance of Junior Infant place offered in October/November last.

Staff Car Park
Parents are asked not to park in the Staff Car Park between 8.10am and 2.30pm, the only exception being parents collecting disabled or injured children. We would be grateful if you could also inform anyone who may be collecting your child/children on your behalf of this procedure. If you are returning to the school to drop off forgotten lunches, schoolbags, etc. during the school day, we would ask that you park in the bus stop area and enter via the Pedestrian Gate. (Please close gates after you leave). Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

Punctuality
It is imperative that all children are punctual in the morning. The 20 minutes between 08.30am and 08.50am is a very important time in the school day. This is when the younger children have activity time or structured play. It is also a time when teachers get to correct homework or hear children’s reading.

Extra Curricular Activities

All enquiries re Extra Curricular Activities should be directed to the activity organiser (see contact numbers on our website). Where the activity is organised by a staff member, please email info@stpatricksns.ie
