The Great Irish Bake for Temple Street

“On Friday 17 April, we had a Bake Sale to raise money for Temple Street Childrens’ Hospital. We had great fun selling all the cakes. Everything was sold by the end of the day. We’d like to thank everyone who contributed, especially the Imperial Bakery in Leixlip, our teachers and all the children in 5th class who baked the cakes. Overall we raised a total of €1090. We hope everyone from 3rd-6th class brought some nice cakes home with them.” Neil Hogan, Darragh O’Connell, Aoibheann O’Connell

3rd Class "Voyage of Discovery" Cultural Event

Last week the third class children attended a cultural event in school entitled "A Voyage of Discovery". This event was initiated by some members of the ATP Partnership Committee (comprising students, parents, members of the local community and staff members). A few months ago a call was put out for volunteers from our parent body to help with the project and as a result about 12-15 volunteers came forward to organise/host a most enjoyable cultural event at which the children got to identify and celebrate the rich diversity of our school community - through story, dance, music, art and even a tasting session where they sampled foods from different parts of the world. The whole event was a resounding success and the children loved it. Please read some of their comments which follow. A big thank you to all those involved - especially the parents and members of our community who gave feely of their time (and indeed talents) and provided such a positive enriching experience for our third class children.

“We went on a voyage of discovery. Some people told us stories. We learned about other languages and we got to eat some brownies and cupcakes and lovely brown bread. We finished off with some dancing.” David Strappe (3rd)

“Firstly we listened to a story about Grace O'Malley. After that we went to a room where we learned about other people’s culture and there were flags hanging on the wall and we did a special dance. Then we tasted food from other countries and heard a story about a Spanish dragon. It was a really nice day.” Sam Sattar (3rd)

“The Tigers Room was transformed into Hen's Castle. We tasted foods from all the countries that Granuaile sailed to. We were told a story about a dragon and also decorated a giant dragon. We sang a song and learned a dance.” Alison Callinan (3rd)

School Payments

Our school uses the Aladdin software service for administrative purposes and the ePayment system will give you access from an internet browser on your computer, phone or tablet to make secure payments to the school using your credit or debit card. You will receive an email or text with your personal secure link for payment. We ask that all future payments are made through this system. It is no longer possible to pay via the school website.

The purpose of the ePayment system is to facilitate the easier payment of “school money collections” for parent/guardians and to reduce the amount of cash and cheques being sent into our school in line with recent central bank directives. The system also automatically records your payment against your child/childrens’ records.

E.U. ParentNets Project: Cyber-bullying & Parents

A survey for parents of Irish children. As part of a concerted effort to aid parents in the prevention and combating of cyber-bullying amongst children, the E.U. has established the 'ParentNets' project, which aims to provide a practical tool for parents to use to better inform themselves and, crucially, help deal this problem.

The Anti-Bullying Centre in Dublin City University, as the Irish partners of the ParentNets project, is running a survey for parents of Irish children. This survey is a crucial part of the project as it will help inform them of the needs of parents, and guide the design of the output of the project towards being of most use to parents. As a central part of that project they would be exceptionally grateful therefore, if you have a child aged between 9 - 16, if you could take the time to complete this short survey on internet usage by yourself and your children.

Here is the weblink to the survey - https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/Y7J88RZ

Re-Registration Form 2015/2016

We have a number of children on our Waiting List for Senior Infants to Sixth class places for the 2015/2016 school year. The form has also been emailed to all parents. Can you please ensure you include your child’s CURRENT class teacher on each form. Thank you.

We would ask that you return the fully completed form ASAP, confirming if your child/children will be returning to St Patrick’s for the next school year 2015/2016. This will also ensure that we have correct contact details, (postal address, mobile numbers and email address) for all parents.

You have the option to pay the Extras Fee for the 2015/2016 School Year on return of the Re-Registration Form or alternatively defer payment until the new school year, whichever is most convenient to you. Please ensure you tick the appropriate payment box on the form.
