Favourite Jersey/Favourite T-Shirt Day
The Ladies Dublin GAA Football Team is playing this Sunday in the All Ireland Ladies Football Championship Finals. To show our support for bPeil na mBan, all children may wear their favourite jersey/tshirt with their school tracksuit bottoms on Friday.
Hearing/Vision Testing - HSE
HSE Hearing/Vision Testing Forms have been distributed today to all Junior and Senior Infant classes. Can you please complete the form, stating whether or not you give your consent for your child/children to be tested. Forms should be returned directly to the child’s class teacher on/before this FRIDAY 25 September as they need to be kept in class order. Please do not return the forms via the Office. The HSE has not yet set the dates for this testing.
Road Safety
A reminder that the main school avenue is still a shared access road for school and building traffic. It is, therefore, very important that all pupils and their younger siblings are carefully supervised at all times when exiting the school.
Sick Children at School
Please do not send sick children to school for the following reasons:
Donations for Refugees
Over 20 sacks of toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, shampoo and first aid supplies have now been delivered, from our school community, to Dublin Calais Refugee Solidarity, to assist refugees affected by the current crisis. Many thanks for your generosity. We are no longer collecting but should you wish to make further donations, GOAL is accepting donations through Topaz service stations. https://www.goalglobal.org/stories/post/goal-appeals-for-winter-supplies-for-syria.
Class Group Photographs
Class Group Photographs will take place next Wednesday 30 September. Can all children who have full school uniform, please wear it to school on Wednesday?
Choir
Choir will commence on Thursday 01 October and will take place on the first Thursday of each month. Children from 2nd to 6th class are welcome to join.
Head Bumps
It is school policy to inform parents if your child has a head bump of any kind during the school day. If the teacher feels that the child is ok and does not need to be collected, you will receive a text message for your information. If the head bump is deemed to be more serious, you will receive a telephone call from the office asking you to arrange collection of your child.
Rainbows
A peer support group for children from 1st to 6th class who have experienced a family bereavement or separation will commence soon in St.Mochta’s Pastoral Centre. Rainbows is a non-secular programme. If you believe your child or children would benefit from this programme, please contact rainbowsstmochtas@gmail.com. More info available on www.rainbowsireland.com

Selection of children for school events and appropriate parental interaction
The school leagues have started recently. Many thanks to all of our parents for your continued support of our school teams. We greatly appreciate your help with supervision, jersey care, side-line encouragement, etc. The school is indebted to our teachers who train and run the teams in a voluntary capacity. The school ethos is to promote ‘Sport for All’. However, some events are competitive and for these, children need to be selected. We always endeavour to be as fair as possible when picking children to represent the school.
It is not appropriate for parents to take issue with teachers regarding the selection process.
While there will always be differing opinions in this regard, it is the prerogative of the team management to make the final decision.
We look forward to another great year for St Patrick’s on the sporting field.
Girls Cumann na mBunscol Áth Cliath
Well done to the St Patrick’s Girls Gaelic team who have played two Cumann na mBunscol games in the last two weeks in Somerton. We played Scoil Fhiachra and Ayrfield N.S. The 5th and 6th class girls performed really well and we won both matches. St Patrick’s ABÚ!

We are very proud of our school website and most parent queries can be answered by accessing www.stpatricksns.ie or by viewing our Newsletters which are regularly emailed to each family and are also on our website. Please make our website your first “port of call”.
The Reception/Administration Office hours are 8.30am to 2.30pm. The office closes for lunch from 12.00-12.30pm daily. It would be much appreciated if telephone calls to the school were made only in emergency situations, and only after 9.00am.
There is no need to telephone the school if your child is sick, unless the illness is contagious. Parents should acknowledge their child’s absence from school on their return, in writing, with a note for Junior & Senior Infant classes or in the child’s Homework Journal for 1st- 6th Class.
