Easter Break

The children will finish school at 11.30am on Friday 07 April.  The school will remain closed from Monday 10 April to Friday 21 April inclusive and will reopen on Monday 24 April.

Most queries can be answered by accessing our website www.stpatricksns.ie or by viewing our Newsletters which are regularly emailed to each family and are also on our website.  Please make our website your “first port of call”.

The Reception/Administration Office hours are 8.30am to 2.30pm.  The office closes for lunch from 12.00-12.30pm daily.  It would be much appreciated if telephone calls to the school were made only in emergency situations, and only after 9.00am.

Confirmation Photographs

Confirmation Photographs will take place on Wednesday 05 April.

5th Class Parents – “Friends for Life” Information Meeting

An information meeting about the “Friends for Life” programme on resilience and well-being will take place in the lobby next Tuesday (4th April) at 7.30 p.m.  The fifth classes have been working on this programme for the past ten weeks.  All parents of 5th class pupils are invited to attend.

Punctuality

It is imperative that all children are punctual in the morning. The 20 minutes between 08.30am and 08.50am

is a very important time in the school day. This is when the younger children have activity time or structured

play. It is also a time when teachers get to correct the homework or hear children’s reading.

Bumbleance Collection

We have a Bumbleance Collection container in the school. The items accepted (in good working condition only please) are as follows:

DVDs; Video Games; Hand Held Consoles; iPods/MP3; iPads/Tablets; Phones.

If you have any of these items for recycling, drop them into the main office.

Dropping in lunches, bags, homework etc.

Please ensure that if you are dropping in any of your child’s forgotten belongings e.g. lunches, bags, homework, etc., that they are clearly marked with your child’s name and their class teacher.

The children who have made it onto the shortlists have been informed. Final selection will be made from these lists. It should be noted that selection is based on a number of points – athletic ability, team spirit, reliability, sportsmanship, etc. The remainder of the “Knock-out Trials will be held after school. Those who make it onto the shortlists must attend if they want to be considered for the team. Those selected for the team must be available for the championships (held at Morton Stadium in Santry) the last week of May and/or the first week in June. The following schedule has been put in place, but further dates will be advised in the coming Newsletters.

Monday 3rd April U10 Boys and Girls 2.15-2.45

NOTE: All trials take place outdoors and are weather permitting. Trials may have to be cancelled at short notice if the ground is too wet. Please discuss pick-up/collection arrangements with your child. Children should line up in yard outside Diswellstown Door at 2.15 where they will be met by teacher. Also note that more dates/times will be added in order to prepare for the event. Children will be informed at school of any further arrangements and notices will appear in Newsletters.

Finals of D15 Cross Country League

The Grand Finals of the Dublin 15 League will be held at Morton Stadium, Santry on Tuesday 4th April. Supporters are welcome but please note that parking is restricted and you may have to park at the nearby shopping centre. For the Finals Day, children should wear black shorts/leggings, plain white t-shirt (school one fine) with athletics running singlet over it. After the event, it is very important that children return all kits asap. Please return clean kits in bag with your child's name clearly written on it (paper bag is fine) as all kits need to be signed back in. Kits will be collected from classrooms. We have been informed by the organisers that NO SPIKES are to be worn by the 5th & 6th class runners as part of their course will be run on concrete (area connecting outlying fields and the stadium track).  More info re Finals Day attached.

Reminders

Administration of Medicine

Non-prescription medication is not permitted in school.  Under no circumstances should any medication be

placed in a child’s schoolbag or lunchbox. The school cannot consider requests to administer antibiotics, throat spray, Calpol, etc.

Children who have Asthma and need to use Inhalers/Ventilating Flasks should be able to self-administer

under adult supervision in so far as this is possible. Parents need to make the class teacher aware of the condition.

However, if your child suffers from a condition that necessitates regular administration of medicine during the

school day or which may necessitate administration of emergency medication, you need to speak with the

deputy principal (special needs co-ordinator) who will arrange for the child’s medication needs to be met.  You should also inform the class teacher of any medical condition.

St Patrick’s Business Network

St Patrick’s School Journal contains a list of Businesses & Services provided by Parents in the School. This is an excellent resource for parents looking for a reliable provider of various services.  The List of Businesses is being finalised shortly. If you are a Parent that has a business or service and would like to be listed, please contact Daniel on daniel@cms-ireland.com ASAP.

School Insurance

The School Insurance company is Allianz and your child is covered under a 24/7 Pupil Insurance Policy.  For more information, see www.allianz.ie/otherproducts/schools.

Extra-Curricular Activities

The school looks after the bookings and payment requests for Tennis, Badminton, Athletics, Emma Louise Dance Academy and Chess.  If your child decides not to rejoin the new blocks of any of the above activities, it is essential that you email info@stpatricksns.ie so that we can remove your child from the list, and offer the place to another child.  It will also mean that you will not receive payment requests unnecessarily for the activity.
