Croke Park 2017

The 5th and 6th class of St Patrick’s made it to the Cumman na mBunscoil Camogie final in Croke Park on the 12th of June. We played against Scoil Treasa, a school from Firhouse. The supporters from each team cheered wildly when the teams walked onto the pitch. In the first half, St Patricks scored 1-2 and Scoil Treasa scored 1-0. Kaci O ‘Neill, St Patricks captain scored a lovely point from a free. Aoife Keane and Ruth Linanne also put St Pats on the score board. Eve Mc Cann caught a ball from a long puck out and Ali Diamond made a great save.

The team came back onto the pitch after half time for the second half after an inspiring pep talk from their captain Kaci O’ Neill. Scoil Treasa got a lucky goal which brought the teams up to just one point between them, but St Patrick’s were only getting started with points from Kaci O’ Neill and Eve Mc Cann along with two cracking goals from Saoirse Behan and Gara Williams. When the final whistle blew, the score was 3:7 to 1:2. St Patricks were the Cumman na mBunscoil Corn Olly Quinlan winners. The team were awarded with the Olly Quinlan Cup, which was richly deserved considering the team won all of their games on their path to victory.

The team were delighted to win but were even more proud for representing their school in Croke Park. Thanks to their mentors Ms. Dowling, Ms. Murray and Mr Lyons and the mentors at Castleknock GAA club.

Team Members Included;

Ali Diamond, Aisling O’Grady, Abby Tiernan, Leila McCormack, Lara Tate, Caoimhe Deehan, Aoife Brown, Emily Sinnott, Kaci O’Neill, Ruth Linnane, Aoife Keane, Saoirse Behan, Áine Wylie, Eve McCann, Marianne Brady, Gara Williams, Maddie Buckley, Loza Elmusharaf, Alison Callinan, Orlaith Lally

Parents Association News

St. Patricks Uniform Sale
The PA Committee is planning to hold a St. Patricks Uniform sale on Tuesday 4th of July at 10:00 am.  If you have old/used uniforms that you no longer require and would like to donate them to the school, we will sell them on at a minimum cost.
Some local schools already do this at the end of the school year and the feedback is very positive.
All money raised will go back into the school as the PA Committee, working alongside the school, continue to focus on keeping the costs down for our parents.
Clean, resalable, St.Patricks uniforms only.  No shirts or t-shirts.
Collections: Friday 30th of July at 08:30am and again at 11:30 am; Monday 3rd July at 09:30-10:00am.
Sale: Tuesday 4th of July at 10:00am
Location: Back of School Hall (stage area)
This sale is a trial.  We will see how the sale is received.  We hope it is a positive initiative.  Any feedback is welcome to the PA email.  Stpatrickspa@yahoo.com

Parent Helper Coffee Morning

We would like to invite all our parent helpers to a coffee morning in the school on Tuesday 20 June from 10.30-11.30am. This is to acknowledge all the help that we received this year.  The helped ranged from covering books, ATP events, accompanying children on tours/Mass/Communion & Confirmation practices, in-class help with guided reading, handwriting and maths to name but a small few.  In order to gauge numbers, we would ask that you RSVP to the Parents Association email address stpatrickspa@yahoo.comon/before Friday 16 June.

Reminders

Food Dudes Extra Delivery

The Food Dudes recently checked in with our school to see how the boys and girls are getting on with Phase 2 of our Healthy Eating Programme. They were really impressed that a large number of pupils are still bringing fruit and vegetables as part of their lunches on a daily basis. The Food Dudes are rewarding our school for this great effort with an extra delivery of Fruit and Vegetables on 13th and 14th June. There will be Melon, Sugar Snap Peas, Blueberries and Carrots. They hope that by giving us these treats that the pupils will continue their great efforts over the holidays.

Choir End Of Year Performance

This year we have decided that the choir will perform as the classes leave on the final day in the senior yard of the school instead of an evening performance. We look forward to seeing everyone there from 11:30am. Ger Meade and Eoin Heneghan

Moving House?

If you are moving house and your child will not be returning to St Patrick’s in the new school year, it is vital that you make contact with the class teacher and the Main Office as soon as possible as it will be necessary for you to complete a Transfer Form.   We have a number of children on waiting lists for all classes and we would like to be able to contact these parents as soon as possible.

Contact Details

It is essential that we have the correct address and contact details (e.g. home telephone, parents’ mobile numbers) for your child on our database in order for you to receive your child/children’s school reports, end of year letters, etc or to make contact with you if your child should fall ill during the school day. If any of your details change at any stage throughout the school year, please complete a Change of Address/Contact Details Form, available from the office.

Extra-Curricular Activities

The school looks after the bookings and payment requests for Tennis, Badminton, Athletics, Emma Louise Dance Academy and Chess.  If your child decides not to rejoin the new blocks of any of the above activities, it is essential that you email info@stpatricksns.ie so that we can remove your child from the list, and offer the place to another child.  It will also mean that you will not receive payment requests unnecessarily for the activity.

Activities finished for this school year

Badminton, Tennis, Athletics, Irish Dancing, Platform Stage School & Musical Theatre are finished until the new school year.
