Registration for Confirmation 2018

Registration for families who wish their children to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation will be taking place in St Mochta’s Pastoral Centre for St Mochta’s N.S., St Patrick’s N.S. and Scoil Choilm N.S.

Confirmation: Registration will take place on Monday or Tuesday 9th and 10th October, between 5.30 & 7pm.

 Please note: 

  1. If your child was baptised in St Mochta’s Church, you will be required to fill out full details of the Baptism on the Registration Form.  If you have a copy of the Baptismal Certificate at hand, please bring it along with you to Registration.
  2. For children baptised outside of St Mochta’s Church, a Baptismal Certificate must be presentedwith the registration form before your child can be enrolled on the First Holy Communion Preparation Programme. Baptismal Certificates will be returned at the Registration evening.

Registration without Baptismal Certificates or Late registrations will NOT be accepted.

Access to School Building during the school day

If you are returning to the school for any reason during the school day, we would ask that you park in the bus stop area and enter via the Pedestrian Gate on the school office side of the building. (Please close gates after you leave).  For Child Protection reasons, the gates from the Diswellstown Road remain closed during school hours.

We are once again looking for Parent Helping Hands. We need parents to :

  • Help out in Junior Infants and Senior Infants for Maths Stations
  • To help out at Literacy Lift-off/Guided Reading stations
  • To help out in Junior infants  for Fine Motor Stations
  • To accompany children to and from the church
  • To accompany children  on school tours
  • To accompany children to sporting events

How do I get involved?

All Parent Helping Hands need to be Garda Vetted through the school. You need to bring in proof of address and a photo ID(Passport/Drivers licence)to the school and fill in an Application Form. We need to submit a form to Archbishop’s House. They will then email you an eform which you must return within 30 days otherwise the form will expire and you will need to begin the process all over again. When the ‘Vetting’ comes through you will be informed by Archbishop’s House and the Declaration will also be sent to the school.

Swimming Lessons

Swimmimg classes for 2nd classes will begin next Wednesday 11th October in Coolmine Swimming Pool. The term will run for 8 weeks.

Friends for Life – 5th Class

The Friends For Life programme will commence shortly in 5th classes. Parents are invited to a short meeting and presentation on Tuesday 10th October at 7:15pm Tuesday 10th October at 7:15pm for the friends for life programme in 5th class.

Mobile Phone Policy

The Board of Management of St. Patrick’s NS does not allow pupils to have mobile phones at school (in the building, on the school grounds or during off-site activities such as tours/ sports events/ visits to the church etc.).Please see full policy on www.stpatricksns.ie

Edmund Rice College

Edmund Rice College is a new co-educational Catholic secondary school that recently opened to serve the Carpenterstown and Castleknock areas.

We are holding an Open Evening on Wednesday 11th October from 7.30pm to 9pm in St. Patrick's National School, Diswellstown Road.

Come along and hear about our new and innovative school and meet the Principal, Brendan Harrington and the staff and students.

Reminders

Junior Infants September 2018

Application Forms for Junior Infants September 2018 are available for collection from the main office from Thursday 14 September onwards. 

Registration will take place on 16, 17 and 18 October from 10.00am -12 noon. There will be an evening session on Monday 16 October from 7.00pm – 9.00pm.

Please ensure you submit your Application during the above dates as Late Applications will not be accepted. Sibling applications can be dropped into the office at any time on the above dates

Head Bumps

It is school policy to inform parents if your child has a head bump of any kind during the school day. If the teacher feels that the child is ok and does not need to be collected, you will receive a text message for your information. If the head bump is deemed to be more serious, you will receive a telephone call from the office asking you to arrange collection of your child.

Labelling/Lost Property

The chances of returning lost property are greatly increased if ALL ITEMS ARE CLEARLY LABELLED with your child’s name. Please ensure jumpers, PE sweatshirts, coats, lunchboxes, beakers, etc, etc, are labelled with your child’s name.

Dropping in lunches, bags, homework etc.

Please ensure that if you are dropping in any of your child’s forgotten belongings e.g. lunches, bags, homework, etc., that they are CLEARLY MARKED WITH YOUR CHILD’S NAME AND THE NAME OF THE  CLASS TEACHER.

Extra-Curricular Activities

If your child takes part in a number of Extra-Curricular activities, it might be useful to write the activities into their school journals on the appropriate days.  This will help them remember the activity and, if there is any confusion, the teacher can help by checking the journal.
