Christmas Holidays
The school will close at 11.30am on Friday 21 December 2007 for the Christmas Holidays. It will reopen on Monday 07 January 2008 at 08.30am.

Carol Service - Porterstown Church
Members of the St Patrick's National School Choir will be performing at a Carol Service in Porterstown Church at 4pm on Sunday 16 December.

Christmas Carol Service
On Thursday 20 December at 1.10pm - 2.10pm, the school choir will sing a collection of Christmas Carols in Courtyard 1. Everyone is welcome to attend and to join in.

Speed Limit on School Avenue
There is a speed limit on the school avenue and for the safety of the children entering and exiting the school, we would request that it be observed.

Parking
Local residents in Burnell Park Avenue have approached us in relation to parking on bends. It is both illegal and highly dangerous to park on a bend in the road. We would ask that all parents of children attending St Patrick's park with due consideration to the local residents of the area.

Dropping Off Procedure
For their safety, children should be dropped only on the school side of the road. Please do not let your child exit the car anywhere except in the designated drop off area.

Non-Uniform Day
There will be a non-Uniform Day on Friday 21 December. Children need not wear their uniform on this day.

Staff Meeting Dates
Staff Meetings take place on the second Monday of each month. Children should be collected 12.00noon on Staff Meeting Days. For your information, the following are the dates for the remainder of the school year:
14 January 10 March 14 April 12 May 09 June.
There will be no Staff Meeting in February.

European Christmas from Slovakia and Poland
Enjoy Christmas music and sample food from both countries this weekend at Farmleigh (Phoenix Park).
Saturday 15 December - Slovakia from 1.30pm - 3.30pm.
Sunday 16 December - Poland from 2.30pm - 4.30pm.
Venue for both events is the Ballroom/Conservatory. Admission is free. Check out www.farmleigh.ie for further details

Safety Poster Competition - Sponsored by Parents Association
Congratulations to all the class winners and runners up in the recent Safety Poster Competition. Well done to all the children who entered. Hopefully the competition will help to reinforce the message about the dangers of cycling and "scootering" on the footpath and will help parents/children to remember to walk their bicycles/scooters to and from the outer School gate. The competition winners were chosen solely by the two Lollipop Ladies and we would like to thank them. The First and Second places for each class are listed below. All the winners and runners have received their prizes today.

Extra Curricular Activities
Dramaworks
"Class in Progress" will take place on Friday 14 December in Orange Room 4 during the second half of your child's usual class time. Parents and Friends please enter and exit via the Carpenterstown Door (Junior Infant Door on right hand side of the building). Please do not enter or exit via the Main Entrance.

Irish Dancing
There will be no Irish Dancing on Tuesday 18 December. Classes will resume on Tuesday 08 January.

Speech & Drama (Liz Brennan)
Speech & Drama classes with Liz Brennan will not be taking place next week. Classes will recommence in the New Year.

Swimming
Registration for Swimming Lessons was today from 8.15am - 09.45am. If you have not re-registered your child for lessons for the next term but still wish to do so, please contact Lucy McDonnell directly at 086 4029792.
