Parents Association Sponsored Walk
The Sponsored Walk takes place this Sunday 19 October at 3.00pm sharp (even if it rains!). You should arrive at 2.50pm to ensure the event starts on time. All children must be accompanied by an adult. If you wish to park at the car park, please ensure that you have your Sponsorship Form with you. MONEY WILL NOT BE COLLECTED AT THE WALK. All sponsorship money should be returned to the Class Teacher as soon as possible.
Dropping Off/Collection Procedure
For their safety, children should be dropped at/collected from the school side of the road only. Please do not let your child exit/enter the car anywhere except in the designated area. At collection time, please do not beckon to your child to cross the road to you. All traffic must go around the roundabout in order to exit the school avenue. Please do not make a U-Turn on the school avenue. We would also ask that you do not block the entrance to the Staff Car Park at any time. These requests are made to ensure the safety of all our children.
Please also note that parents are not permitted to park in the Staff Car Park when dropping or collecting children. Parking is for staff members only. If you are returning to the school to drop off forgotten lunches, schoolbags, etc., we would ask that you park in the bus stop area and enter via the Pedestrian Gate.
Christmas Cards
The Parents Association are organising school Christmas Cards this year – they will be on sale at the Christmas Fair on Sunday 30 November. It is proposed to have the children design the cards and to have a design per year (Junior Infants up to 6th Class). Their picture needs to be on an A5 page (i.e. the same size as the school newsletter). Paper will be distributed by the school next week and the entries need to be returned by 3 November (the day of return from mid-term break).
Operation Christmas Child
Third – Sixth class children will be busy filling shoeboxes over the mid term break to send to needy children in Eastern Europe and Southern Africa. If any child from any other class would like to fill a shoebox, they are welcome to do so. Special Labels must be attached to the Shoebox. These are being ordered and will be distributed to the children the week after the midterm. Please do not send in any Shoeboxes before you receive the label. (See www.samaritanspurse.ie for more information).
Dogs Outside School Gates
Following an incident yesterday (Thursday 16 October), we would ask that you discourage your child from petting any dog. We would also ask that dogs are not left unattended outside the school gate. Under no circumstances should dogs ever be brought on to school grounds.
Community Together Carpenterstown (Blanchardstown Area Partnership)
Would you like to discuss your community’s needs? Then come along to our information session on Saturday 18 October from 2.00pm-4.00pm in St Patrick’s N.S. Diswellstown and share your views and ideas. Everyone welcome. Bring along the kids – Free DJ and Puppet Show. Refreshments will be provided.
